Discussion of the 4 year checkup
I went back to Stanford for an MRI and a consult with Dr. Jackler and
Dr. Gibbs September 2009
My thanks again to Laurie Tupper for setting up all of the appointments.
Both doctors are happy with what they see.
I did break down in December 2009 and bought a hearing aid. Insurance
paid for about 20%. This is a fairly sophisticated one in that it will
do a shift of frequencies from input to output to help with the loss of
the higher frequencies. It also has a detection algorithm to choose
what program to use, quiet, music, noisy bar, as well as two programs I
asked for where I increase across the board the output by 6 and 12
decibels. At this point I can't say if it really helps but I have been
told it will take the brain some months to adjust.

I don't know if I will do a 2010 or 2011 appt. Some confusion as to
whether skipping every other year should be at 4 or 5 years out.
