Costa Rica, December 2006 - Day 0 - Travel to San Jose
Don, Marina, and David left Ruby Ranch on Thursday evening Dec 14, to
head to the complex of hotels adjacent to Denver International Airport.
We stayed the night at the Fairfield Inn, and left the car there,
uncovered for the duration of the trip. In the morning of Friday
December 15, we caught the hotel shuttle to the airport, and traveled
to Miami, where we would have a 7 hour layover before catching a night
flight to San Jose. Upon landing in San Jose, we received a call from
Mike. He was sick and missed his first flight. He did get on the next
flight and by the time he was in Miami he was feeling better. While in
Miami, we went to the dirty side of the airport and met up with
Marina's brother Pete for lunch. Dinner was back on the clean side of
security, with Mike.
We then took the night flight from Miami to San Jose. At San Jose, the
tour group operator had arranged for a taxi (included in the package)
that would take us to the Courtyard San Jose. Our driver's name was
Victor Hugo. All of us declined to ask him about his name. He did take
us a long way around to the hotel, and I think that was so he could
give us a running monologue about his country.
