3 Days in Stockholm

A plan for Days 7-9, and a bit of 10

Day 7 and 8.  Use the gocity pass.  (prices go up on this July 10, so may want to buy two day pass now)

One one day visit Djurgarden (we can travel by ferry or bus with the gocity pass) where there are bunch of interesting things all together.  Highlights included in the gocity pass are The Vasa Museum, The Viking Museum, Prins Eugen – Waldemarsudde  and SkansenVrak Museum is not included in the pass but may also be interesting. Many restaurants are in the vicinity.

Other day here are some options.  Drottingham Palace by Boat  A 2.25 hour boat tour under 12 bridges and in and through the islands.

On Day 9 (or 7 or 9 for Birka), we are thinking about a longish boat trip into the archipelagos.  A lot of this is just looking at scenery while passing between the many islands.   I provide information here on several options.  Please submit comments for first and second choices.  Some of these are also available through the go city pass, but you have to show in the morning and hope there are tickets available.

Option 1.   A  Boat Tour to Birka across Lake Mälaren  Around 2 hours 15 mintes each way, plus time at Birka.  Three hours on the island.  495 SEK ($45)  There is a tour (included) and places to buy food both on the ship and the island.  Viking exhibits (which likely duplicate Viking Museum) and some ruins and old buildings.

Option 2.  Thousand Islands Archipelago Cruise  (only available on Day 9)  SEK 1785 ($175)  Includes Lunch and Dinner and fika.  Check out menu here as the options are limited.  Stops with shore time at three islands less than an hour each.

Option 3: Grand Archipelago Canal Tour to Gustavsberg (only on Day 9) SEK 395.  Two hours in Gustavsberg where there is porcelain musuem. Meals are extra.

Go ahead and check out the stromma.com website for other options.

Update:  Option 2 reserved.

Day 10, We want to be at the ship by about 2 pm to check in and board starting at 2:30.  So that would be leaving our hotel around 1:45 by taxi.   I think we can visit Gamla Stan (old town) for the morning.
